There is such a thing as people being more observant or able to pick up on that stuff than others. He is allowed to feel disinterested as that is a part of being human. He was not rude in any way. He may have thought some “rude” stuff in his mind by not paying attention, but that literally happens to everyone. Ex: a friend could be spacing out or not listening cause they’re bored of the topic.
