You should re-read the webtoon if you have free time. He didnt fall for her because she rejected him. The emperor told him to visit her at the hospital, but he planned to ditch because he wasnt interested. He was interested after she saved his guard, and fell for her gradually when he had to visit her for 2 months while in disguise as "Sir Ron". Elise fell for Sir Ron, while occasionally thought his manners resembled Linden. Elise was wary of him because she thought he hated her, and because she felt guilty of forcing him into marriage. In the earlier chapters, Elise apologised to him for what she had done, and Linden was confused. He said something along the line that he had never said he hated her.

In the first life, it was never shown how he treated her, but it was assumed that he gave her cold shoulder. Not only because of Elise's bad manners but also she's close to Michael, Linden's political enemy. I forgot what it was, but it was said that the old Elise was so horrible that she committed a crime serious enough to get her family executed, to the point when she reincarnated as a doctor, she was obsessed in saving lives so she could make up for what she had done.

I'm re-reading it,I'm at ch 30 but for some reason my opinion isn't changing much bcs the explanation for her first death wasn't explained much... I just can't ever forgive things like these... Like in the abandoned empress or mr.fu or whatever that psycho stalker webtoon is called ... I guess i just can't forgive Elise for falling for the guy who killed her no matter what reason he had for doing such

I think it's because Elise's past sins werent explored enough that we were able to love her a lot. For a noblewoman AND the empress to be burned at stake, i imagined she committed either treason or murder.

In The Abandoned Empress, Tia was innocent, and the ML was an ass, even had a woman on his lap. In Doctor Elise however, Elise was the bitch, and ML was a good person. It can be seen by how people around him (duchess, the emperor, Mil and an old knight) said ML was cute as a child. On the other hand, Elise was a trouble child before she went back in time. It's an eye for an eye.

In The Abandoned Empress, she was accused of a crime she didnt do; that's murder. Here, Elise was convicted for what she did; that's punishment. It's different: a fair execution ≠ murder. She regretted it and held no grudge against ML.

Anyway i think Linden only acknowledged that he loves Elise in ch 40++ so go on.
