the character have lots of depth. the seme for one is not emotionless, he just doesn't express it, the thing about him that is so great is his consideration and respect for puppy. the moral of consent he has is strong.
we bl readers are so used to stories that disregard consent that when a story that has a foundation for consent between its characters does arrive, It is not just unfamiliar to us, we find it unattractive.
but in reality this is what we have been waiting for, a character like puppy, who despite being soft, knows when to draw the line and he does, he is surprisingly levelheaded for such a doormat of a character and the seme respects his decisions completely, as one should. this particular piece of the story is really gonna develop puppy's personality, make him more confident, if not in himself then atleast in the decisions he makes.
this is the story we have been waiting for, so lets not underestimate.
He does actually have consent which makes me happy but puppy still isn't safe. And seme neglected one of the basic rules for a BDSM relationship. (Pet play is under BDSM for those who don't know) so I will forever be mad at him and a little at the author for that as well. Either they don't know, which is fair, but if you're going to write about something research should really be done first. Don't get me wrong, I like the story and the author is great at writing. But as someone into the lifestyle it gets me peeved when people present incomplete or false information.
Because there are many things in the BDSM lifestyle that could pass someones limits when starting a relationship you need to discuss those limits. In this story puppy would have told him that he's not comfortable wearing woman's cloths yet. And master would have respected that because if he doesn't (he's a shit person) and they need a safe word. A word that he says when something is too much and needs to stop. And master shouldn't punish him in any way for using it because its for his health and safety. If he does its teaching puppy he cant say no to ANYTHING and has to do whatever he says even if he really doesn't want to. He could be forced into sex with others. And this would be controlling in a bad way. Safe words are there for the safety of everyone in the relationship. You wouldn't want your partner to leave because of something that happened when it could have been avoided with said word.

despite this story being so full of plot holes, this is one of the only stories I have ever read, that had such developed story arcs. like god-damn, it has such a great plot line, you don't see this in most bl style comics. usually it's just all perfect happily ever after tropes. but here!
UFF- first you have a love story, one with a character that's fully devoted and another whose heart lies else where, a second male character in love with the devoted human love interest. then you have this whole ulterior motive with the old gods and Khoal.
not only that, this is one of the few books where you initially like the main lead (Khaol) but then realize, along the way, that he's a shitty ass character, who has been hurt, but is being selfish. even kavier is barely having his bullshit.
like god damn, this story has so many plot holes, but it's one of the best ever stories I've read. like this is what we need more of, in bl, as a genre.
