I'll try to answer about past life. Yes Seo died. He died by drowning when he managed to escape. Narye/seme used black magic to tie their souls together and I think that also brought him back to life (which is why we see them together at the day of his funeral. The clerk who saw them together saw the scars from the ritual in the LN)
When he jumped from cliff is confusing bc I don't know if that happens during a reincarnated life or after their souls have been tied bc Seme had to live out his natural life before he would be able to see Seo again.
It seems that Seo always retains memories during his reincarnated state and it was only due to Seme looking similar but not exactly like he was in their first life that Seme managed to get closer to him this time (modern day) than in the previous live/s.
Seme even realizes in current life that way he treats Seo is better (but yeah he's still manipulating behind the scenes to a certain extent)
