Could the issue be that she was another country? Mention that she has the ultimatum of becoming the empress or get exciled, and that the probability of her becoming empress was near fucking 0 so she was expected to fail and it was just a roundabout way to get her exciled and get rid of the magicless nuisance that they bullied, so why should she have any attachment to such a place and family

Being abused and traumatized does not give you the allowance to treat others like shit. He refuses to even try to lay out where he and his sister feel about each other.
Even when she slapped him when he was younger, when he recounts that even, he never thinks maybe what he said was too mean. He told her that she should've died too. That must have hurt her immensely and he never acknowledges it, and labeled her an abuser over that one singular event
