He killed vampires too stay alive dude.... he made the link to get revenge on him for killing his family so he could no longer have human blood and only his links. Expect he used the link to get revenge so now he eats vampires to stay alive and gain power which just so happened to gain him more power. Because of his reasons in staying alive people came after him so he had to defend himself and he killed them
