redhead is genuinely trying here. there has been a lot of character development from the boy who used to simply pay people to be with him. now, you see a boy who is willing to know and learn from his shortcomings. uncle pan, on the other hand, has been consistent with his entire "i don't take emotions seriously" approach which, not gonna lie, is pretty shitty especially if you know a boy that young is getting all caught up (there's no way he didn't know. redhead was super obvious). i, personally, don't think uncle pan deserves to be with redhead.

i will CRY about the characterization in this. it's pure gold. the way they've displayed the working of traumatized kid's mind is mind blowing. i don't think i've yet seen a manga where someone who has gone through such horrible things is portrayed like this. kei's mind gives me chills, but it shows that he hasn't grown up, he was never allowed to (even his thought process is controlled by children). all children desire is love and care, which kei never got so now that he's receiving it he's willing to do anything to keep receiving it. i am, in fact, in love with the way yutaka and kei's relationship doesn't particularly fix kei (he needs therapy badly), but it does prompt him to be a better person. i'm gonna cry for years.
this one hurt the most because he actually confessed and got rejected right away.. i feel bad for the poor guy
