what a lovely manga. no toxicity between the couple, great backstory for the whole shamaness thing, no unnecessary asshole side characters and just so...wholesome.
also i love how yamato stopped when they first tried to shabang when he sensed shiki wasn't ready. like, you don't see that in manga often tbh...and love how he was always so respectful to him as a shamamess and queen/king even tho they grew up together and shiki was basically a random child that washed up on the shore. but that probs has to do with the fact that yamato always believed shiki was special.
He was even willing to be an eunuch for the shamaness! I mean wow.. I would marry that person in a heartbeat!!
idk why yall feel sorry for makoto. like i hate the guy (even tho he was impressive). but i actually feel sorry for jonathan. cuz idk, his backstory feels much more sad and i feel like he wasn't as cruel from the start as makoto was. he didn't really want to destroy wald? i think? but idk, even tho i love this manga it's still a bit confusing and will stay in my mind for a long time as i try to understand everything.

its hard to sympathise with a pedophile no matter how sad their backstory is
he's also a murderer, manipulator, sex trafficker (?) and a weirdo in general. but so is makoto. and when you think about it, he also takes in a kid off the streets later and does who knows what to them (probably the same things J did to him). they're all devils, you can't apply laws of the human world to them, in my opinion.

as cursed as this plot usually is, i actually cried at nii-san and shinobu's backstory. it explains their codependency, and tbh their relationship wasn't even sexual, just a goodbye and welcome home kiss. even reiko (what a girlboss) understood it and wanted to help. as for the rapey kazuomi like i get childhood crushes and all, but there's still consent. altho mangas in general usually ditch consent so lol nothing new
but anyway something i found hilarious was that they kept mentioning how old the master was even tho it wasn't relevant at all like damn let the old man live
