If they were to establish a relationship with him tied up their trust for each other would plummet the moment they tried it without him tied up as you can see with free reign he can’t handle his headspace with his lover. So it creates an opportunity and a storyline where they take it a step at a time instead of rushing it like they did.
Of course as readers we wanna see booba and cocka but for a good story I think it’s coming along relatively well and realistic.
Yes it was harsh yeah it was painful but hopefully we’ll see them learn a bit more and grow into their desires and learn to dance in tune with each other.
