To an extent, yeah, Robin's selfish, but at least he was willing, not grow, but learn from this selfishness by letting Jake live his carnivore life without being bound to the confines of herbivore life in the city, even though it came after realizing his hatred towards carnivores were unjustly directed to Jake.
And that's an improve from the story this branched from, where Pedro is imprisoned for 7 years and we don't see a definitive ending of that 7 years.
