Pretty sure it's a matter of ethics. A psychologist is in charge of their patient's mental health, and is in a position of power.

Falling in love with a client hinders the level of objectivity a psychologist is supposed to maintain, and it goes against the code of ethics they should live by. In case you fall in love with your patient or your patient falls on love with you, the professional decision is to terminate the contract and make a referral.
wow it sounds pretty serious. it's possible if a psychologist and client fall in love. they talked thru everything. they will realize the charm. so hard to keep it as a boundary when it comes to love. i also wondering..... what if..... they fall in love? is the career of a psychologist ruined? if so, it'd be awful

Even after termination of contract, a psychologist isn't intentionally allowed to start a relationship with the client. Sexual relationships are completely unacceptable. The repercussions of being in a relationship with the client depends on the country you live in, not only can your licence be revoked but you might even face a sentence if your conduct is deemed to be a criminal offence. The code of ethics published by the American Psychological Association is followed in many countries and even in other developed countries the code of ethics and rules are similar. All in all, if a psychologist wants to keep their job and reputation, they can never be in a relationship with the client.
