As a wise gay man once said, "All art is quite useless". All this is is a story. Stop trying to look for political correctness, a strong sense of morality or a deeper meaning. Enjoy it if you do and don't enjoy it if you don't.
Just remember that just because an author writes a character it doesn't mean they condone their actions.

Hear me tf out. These aren't spoilers, this is just me making shit up ig.
So, the man's eyes are really white rn. And while the author likes to make eyes bright to give the reader an eerie feeling, Mujin's eyes have always stayed yellow. This old man's eyes were black.
My point is, and this can be far fetched, what if Mujin isn't Sura, but rather is something like Sura's target or actually Sura's lover. Attacking the person he loves, chasing Mujin off from place to place, and maybe taking control of people like this man, being the reason his eyes have turned white. Idk, i feel like it'd be some good shit if that was the case
Tldr: what if Mujin is Sura's lover and all so far was Sura messing with Mujin
For anyone that's cautious of this after being traumatised by Harada, don't worry it's just a wholesome story at least as of ch 12
