I think its deeper than a shitty love-life, and more towards growing up in a shitty household. The chapter with her mother showed how growing up in a household where her parents were forced to get married really hurt her. She still brings the trauma and her relationship with both parental figures is strained to say the least. Her current situation is literally the same as her parent's in the past, a shotgun marriage. Knowing wht she felt growing up, maybe she's so hesitant in getting married because she fears that her baby will experience the exact same thing she did. Maybe she feels that its better for the baby to grow up w ONLY her who will love the baby instead of with a two parents who hate each other.
I too believe that they dont have to get married but she kept denying that he is the father. This feel like he have no right over the baby. Thats the part i get annoyed with she can say no to marriage but not him being the father.

My arranged marriage was horrible he forced himself on me ,there was no honeymoon planned bc in laws thought it was waste of money. These type of stories just makes me feel lost, sad and it hurt. I filed for divorce this year but the time and the experience i lost no body can fix it for me. So yeah i hate everything about this story even though its so sweet.
