the way characters & their relationships feel so real (they talk about their emotion and about interesting problems they’re subjected to) and how the creator fleshes out jinju’s character (treats her with respect instead of making her to be only an obstacle to dojin&taehee’s relationship) (&jinju’s friendship with taehee!!) (JINJU BRAINROT!!!)
ok so thinking about this manhwa again and like, i really think it’s a good meditation on what happens when you don’t get access to mental health services in ancient times + a toxic environment that you can’t get out of?
in ch. 12 a servant tells nakyum that seungho’s unstable (mood swings) and it sounds like either a side effect of a mental health condition or a product of it. plus the fact that seungho has a reputation not only because of his family but also because he’s a first born (which is very important esp. in chinese & korean cultures in the past since they carry the responsibility of doing well/upholding the family’s reputation) so that means if he ever seeks help and tells people about his issues him and his family will be looked down upon (for him being gay + traumatised)

this story had so much potential and this chapter just really amped it up? seungho’s way of living is practically/just an unhealthy coping mechanism used to mend whatever transpired between his father (family??) and him.
it’s very relatable? trying to heal when your family shuns you?
the first part (basically everything up till now where 2/4 male ensemble cast decided to confess their feelings) was subversive and interesting but now... it’s like damn can the creator also subvert the main character syndrome (everyone is falling in love with her, that’s it?)
ok so in chapter 49, i thought the one asking about taehee was taehwan but it’s actually sahn as proven in chapter 50 where sahn was shown talking to the same 3 people that appeared at the end of chapter 49. so in the next chapter that comes out (or maybe the next arc) i think sahn is going to be revealed as the romantagonist and be really in love/obsessed with dojin till he fucks up dojin&taehee’s relationship

could be! but the fact that he’s been together with dojin all these years + the want to reconcile with him, i think sahn could have wanted a romantic relationship with dojin but he’s too scared to actually have one so seeing that dojin would entertain the possibility of being together in a gay relationship would have made him jealous? if that makes sense
really enjoy how refreshing it is, especially in the bl genre. it really aims to illustrate how gay people create/form families with their partners and not some bullshit self insert abo charade.
the immediate acceptance from the children is lovely, it shows how love is the natural way to approach things and that (by not showing it explicitly on screen) hate is cultivated/nurtured instead of being inherent
so, understanding shin’s character must come with comprehending and confronting his internalised homophobia (displayed through his comphet thoughts and mindset) along with his unique circumstance that begets his self hatred.
so according to spoilers taehwan is into men so i mean, it’s just really sad that we live in a world that because of its cisheteronormativity, makes gay and bi people have this sort of internalised homophobia
