I get it they wanted to be cuter, but they we’re trying to be correct in everything else and there are ways to make it cuter, also the person who translated this is most likely from Russia or is the child of an immigrant so they most likely knew how to avoid it, but we’re just too lazy. And that sentence was way too long

I don't think so... they probably were a koean? adaptation of russian names... like they do with most western names... kinda making it work with theur alphabet. So they might have tried to adapt it to english while trying to keep the russian vibes the author meant... if it was to Portuguese they'd turn into Alexandre e Anastacia (Ale and Ana).

Honestly their nicknames sound very weird to me cuz Idk russian and am used to it being based on part of the names and shorter... and they're not much shorter. If they used Nastia I'd probably read it as nasty... and to me... Alyosha it's harder to say than Alexei and doesn't sound pretty too... honestly there's more to translation than just being accurate... they probably really saw it was russian based but that in English the pronunciation would be similar to nasty... and I'd rather not have that...

The issue is that the proper pronunciation isn’t similar to nasty in any ways. You pronounce it list mast with an n and just ya attached to the end.

Look... I do get your point... and I'm not even part of the scanlation team to know why they choose it. What I'm saying is that as someone with 0 knowledge of russian, and I'd think most readers also don't have it, that's how I'd suppose is pronunciated... ╮(￣▽￣)╭
