I don't rlly think heonjae is calculating so much as he is just mentally unstable... i mean we are seeing his thoughts and he attacked someone solely because he didn't want to lose mc as his friend. It wasn't a form of manipulation, he genuinely just got upset.

No it isn’t fair what Heonjae is capable of doing I don’t see Jingi doing that. Jingi knows his brother is unstable and at what lengths his brother will go to. And to me it seems like the lengths is jingi willing go to is literally planned out more so by his uncle. Jingi is literally in jail because of his uncle while Heonjae on the other hand is in prison for something he legitimately did and it kind of sucks he was able to use his uncle to get a shorter term knowing what Heonjae is capable of. So no you’re right it isn’t fair. And really it’s not up for debate I was stating how I feel when it comes Heonjae! I don’t like him and nothing will change that. I know what the author is probably going for and they all will probably end up together in some capacity. And when we get to that point I’ll do what I alway do.
You said it. You don't like him and it's fine. What's not fine is calling him calculating. Because he's not. Hyeonjae is a child both at mind and in his heart. That's why he can be both cruel and easy to fall in love. He's an abandoned child. Both by his parents and Jingi. The only person that has shown him care was his coach. So it's understandable that he fell for him because again, he's a child mentally. And yes, a child can both be cruel and selfish when not raised right. Which is what Hyeonjae is.
Unlike Jingi, everything Jingi does is done with him knowing what he did. With a straight mind of know what's wrong or right. But he's doing it anyway. The way he rape Myeong il and the other inmates are done with his mind fully with the intent of raping them. Unlike Hyeonjae. He just thought it's okay because Jingi said it's okay. He follows what Jingi wants, even with Myeong il at times. Yes, he does things with Myeong il that we people with the right mind would see as non consensual. But in Hyeonjae's mind it's all because he's showing his love for the MC and because he thought the MC liked it.
