Everything wants me to cry about this

Because first of all: this is just a story. Fiction. Means: it's not real.
Second: back then when this manga started, times were different. Not everybody was packed in cotton candy and has been offended when somebody said "booh".
Third: When you're already at chapter 30 congrats: you've managed to finish the "worst" part.
Especially chapter 30 is one of the deepest and best in this story after all what happened until then.
If one believes it, or not, there has been a lot of character development to this day.

Why Finder has such a high ranking? I think, it's because it's different.

I personally miss those old times. I loved Finder especially because it was this rough. Not everybody is into happy (family) stuff or romance. There are enough of such mangas out there and none of them interest me even a little bit. Yes, I'm somebody who hates romances. So what? I simply don't read it.
Finder on the other hand is exactly my thing. No, of course I'm not into real rape, but yes, I have my fantasies. It's called a kink. And this manga serves indeed different of my special kinks.
I also love the art style. The old one as well as the new. My favorite is the one straigt in between.
Means, this thing is just made for me. It hits every of my buttons that's to hit.

See? Tastes differ and this is great. It brings variety into fiction. It's absolutely fine, when Finder's not made for you. For me, it always will be my no.1 story. Even though I don't like the (character) development at the moment.

Question: Why Finder has a high rating even though the first 30 chapters have gratuitous rape scenes? Answer: It's complicated. I made a few attempts to write out the answer, but each time I do, it ends up being 7 or more paragraphs long. And I don't think you'd be that interested in the deep-dive of "why".

You can read Finder at a fast clip. Old fans waited months, sometimes years, for the next chapter. They simply loved the characters, and their imaginations went wild during those long time periods. Honestly, many readers either overlooked, or skipped over rape scenes, choosing instead to invest in the characters and the storyline. There is a lot psychology behind why fans found it appealing, but it boils down to the mindset and the culture of that time, which would take several paragraphs to explain.

The first chapter, "You're My Loveprize", was one of several one-off short stories comics that were published in a magazine's BDSM-special edition back in 2002, which were supposed to be hardcore. The author continued the story and then turned it into a series because readers asked for more

Oh boi, you should add the fact that young readers usually have this immature phase when they don't realize what they are reading is wrong , like evil/yakuza characters r*ping, because they just think of it as a "sexy time", some find it uncomfortable, some grow to dislike it, and other actually discover they like to read twisted stuff. But at the time this was released it was like a BL boom, everyone "loved" finder, it was new, sexy and better than your usual HS yaoi romance, so I can see why people latched onto it.

Yeah it was the 2000s a weird time

One reason why it has such high ratings is because its like the og yakuza action yaoi that first came out. Its new and fresh to the eye. After that, lots of yakuza yaoi came into picture but yeah this one's always talked about cause this is the pioneer
