The duke has a condition that is related to their bloodline. It’s sickening actually. So they are half-noble of the fallen Madoh Empire. You know magics and shit. When the human empire won. They were able to rebuild. But because their no more nobles from the madoh empire, they can only mate with human. Which weaken their bloodline (magic in their blood).

A male heir with the appearance of blackhair with red eyes, this was considered as perfect, can only be born from half-siblings. Butttttttt for some sickening reason only females are born from the taran bloodline when mating with human. This was observed by the bloodline of Philip which is the doctor. (He is fucking sick) They were obsessed with the duke’s bloodline that every generation became doctors of the duke.

So lemme explain the sickening part. A female can be born from any female prepared a certain way. A virgin who ate mugworts (shocking). A male can only be born from half-siblings. (Sick) So basically Hugh is born from incest and so was damien.

Philip throughout the novel will vouch for the duke to cheat on his wife so Damien can have a wife. Fucking sick right? Damien is his brother’s son who fell in love with his half-sister. When he got her pregnant he let her ran because Hugo (the brother) is kind of sick of their bloodline. Same goes for Hugh (the duke).

The duke’s situation was kind of special because he had a twin which was unusual for the taran bloodline. So you get why Philip was obsessed with him.

Don’t be mistaken the story is really enjoyable to follow, especially the sweet moment of the two. They really struggled to express themselves even though they bed each other everynight hahahahahaha. It was hilarious, they are both overthinking things so naive to love.
