Because Haesol was convincing himself that what had happened was alright, that she liked him and that’s why ‘it’ had happened. He partially blamed himself for it too. But It doesn’t change the fact that it was abuse. It was uncalled for, and definitely was not part of the ‘play’, she was unsafe and uncaring in the moment of hurting him. Haesol can try to delude himself but when he sees her all his fears are at the forefront of his mind. Even if it’s just an image of her on TV.

What I’ve noticed from reading many historical manhwas is that they usually always bring servants to the ball with them. They also take with them stuff they might need through the night like makeup, other pair of shoes and maybe even clothes. The servants take care of the stuff and waits for their employees until they might need something. So those shoes are probably a pair that she has walked in more and that’s why they suit her more and the ones she has now are probably new ones that she bought with the dress. I think we all know how uncomfortable new shoes can be.
