Theres many cases where victim of trauma bonding with each other, and thats what they did with him. Seeing riolu reminds them of themselves. The twins wanted to be happy, hence wanted riolu, who is also an illegitimate child, to be happy too. Imo, Riolu’s presence gives them some sort of sense of security & hope, because riolu is much older than them & that means he had endured more hardships & judging but he still made through it all.
I love how the father apologized at the end, thats BASIC HUMAN DECENCY btw because yes you give us twins everything now, but that shouldve been done since so long, not only now where we’ve been traumatized and developed abandoned issue (see how the twins screams “dont be nice to us if you gonna abandon us again”). I’m glad that the kindness & affections the royal family showed to them finally melted their hearts.
