You probably forgot about this by now, but my peeve is that the brother who was banished from the household could leave with his friends to the celestial realm or whatever it's called and go on these adventures, fight monsters and getting glory, but he couldn't go to his hometown and try to investigate what's become of his sister that was left all alone in a house of vipers by his stepmother. Even if she sent him to the school, nothing could have stopped him from going back and checking on the household as the future heir, it's literally his birthright.
