I’m kinda bored by this... Don’t get me wrong it’s good, but ripley is....aside from her past-life accident (where I think all three of them were wrong, the bf for meeting with ripley while having a gf, the friend for not listening to ripley, and ripley for hiding the bf’s confession and their meetups to her friend), I feel like she’s the only one creating the misunderstandings. I don’t except a strong female lead, but everything in the story could’ve been solved more quickly if not for ripley’s flaws. And even so her being hesitant doesn’t equal her being (sorry to say it) dumb, so I wouldn’t have cared if she was only being hesitant.
Hmm rather than being hesitant or dumb, the issue in her past life happened probably because she was scared. She did say she was young and naive then, so it mustve been a shock and was traumatized by it. So now she's doing everything to avoid a confrontation of sorts. It's frustrating but that's how the story goes lol it's supposed to be comedy so i just don't take it too seriously lol
Ripley’s only fault is having no backbone and being too naive. She said she didn’t hide their meetups on purpose because she was expecting the bf to tell her friend but she’s naive to think that and essentially became a victim. The only ones at fault here are the messy ass couple and the bystanders who believed everything.
I know she doesn’t do this on purpose... and well, it’s what is the most frustrating to me. Because when you explain these types of people what they did wrong, they would like at you like they don’t know what’s going on., and not even on purpose. Sometimes it just makes you feel as if you were the one at fault just because they don’t understand their mistake. I know im gettin too far ahead I guess I’m just not good with people like ripley. (if her friend did not confronted her about it let’s be real ripley wouldn’t have told her. Though ripley was still the least at fault here.)

Everyone is dropping it because the black guy wasn’t apparently portrayed well and I mean he was, but I believe there’s no evil intention behind it. I do agree it can make you uncomfortable but it seems like some of are tryna « cancel » the author...like...idk ahah. Everyone has to be educated on that at some point of life even at 40 years old, so maybe the author really didn’t know. And he seemed like a genuinely nice character. Also I’m just saying it there but everytime a black character is made with big (not very big tho, cause if not it’s a caricature at this point) lips a lot of people say that black people doesn’t look like this, and when they’re not made like that then people say they’re not black enough... make your mind up. (Tho his design is genuinely bad in this case) and the only problem is the non-pigmented lips. He isn’t ugly at all if it isn’t for that fact. I wouldn’t wanna have an argument with some of y’all.
Idk I think it’s obvious yelling at someone and making them feel ashamed of themselves isn’t gonna help them understand what is bad. Plus it is an illegal website and the author is korean so....unless y’all can speak it... ?
I do get that and said it myself. What I do not like is the people bullying indirectly the author when bullying doesn't make you a better person. You have every right to be offended but I believe hate is not answer when you don't know both sides of the story. You might get tired of hearing that but considering asia's pretty much closeted on that subject you can't except things to change unless people from there start talking first about it. The author could have totally made more research too but people are getting really defensive. I guess I'm too peaceful...
I never said you couldn't get mad. You have the right to say shit the author If you want. But some people are just like "the author is so disrespectful what a *****" or something like that. Idk I don't see the point in being rude considering the artist probably just did a mistake. If it turns out the artist is actually racist then I'd have nothing to say. Apparently she’s the real killer and nothing wrong with that especially in that situation, but it’s even more shameless of her to go up to our mc when she’s the real killer ‘-‘ like idk you didn’t thought he wouldn’t like to be reminded the events that happened (especially when he’s being bullied about that?) In the end the traumatized thing goes both way.
Phillipa and collin’s story was really beautiful I’m glad they reunited another time without collin dying for once.

Because whether in fiction or reality, no one wants their skin tone to be misrepresented, or portrayed in a negative light?? In today’s social climate, that stuff’s kinda obvious. Besides, pointing it out doesn’t take away from the overall story, its just something people notice

Dark skinned people can’t be villains because if they are then it’s racism? Like he’s portrayed in a negative light for sure but his skin color as nothing to do with this. I got your point and it’s true there’s nothing wrong with pointing out that fact but I think complaining about that is pointless unless the character is really made to mock the skin color or ethnicity. No point in creating problems. I prolly sound like a bitch but I just don’t want people to bash authors because of that since it seems like what people are into these days.
I think people are especially sensitive to the issue because colorism is such a huge issue in East Asian cultures. Not to mention, countries like Japan or Korea are a monolith, so they are not used to the diversity like other places are. I agree though, not every instance like this is an example of racism. Actually, whenever I see a darker-skinned character, I just assume they’re tanned, not another race. I think knowing how dark skin is perceived in certain countries can make a reader uncomfortable, thats all
Indeed, there’s a lot of issues about it. But yeah same, I also assume that they are tanned, and it’s true that it can make people uncomfortable, for example there’s this manga where the female lead had her skin color turn white because she got holy power or sumn and this made me really uncomfortable (though the situation was handled well with the FL’s showing everyone’s hypocrisy since everyone started loving her bc of her skin/holy power) .
Since 99.99% of evil villains in manga/manhua are white, I’m the opposite. When I see a dark skinned person being evil, I notice it only because it’s rare.
I didn’t like the second couple like I don’t usually care about age gap UNLESS it’s illegal and not morally right, and... I mean the dad is, on top of being a horrible dad, dating not only someone his son’s age, but someone who JUST got out of highschool? Like a lot of people say they don’t mind their situation but if you asked actual people that are 18/19 you can be sure a huge majority wouldn’t want to date a dad that’s twice their age’’. Especially your “friend’s” dad. That is the same age as you.
