I understand the huge difference in art styles. I was wondering if the previous work was done solo or they had assistants? I know for a fact studios like ant usually have them aside from the main artist that we already know. The assets are probably there since I see familiar elements but maybe they could have picked one from the team with similar art style but this isn't too bad. It's okay, I guess people are just too used to the old one which I can't blame them. It's valid, especially if you are a visual type that can really have an eye to see the difference.
It's hard to put it into words haha but I get it cause I do see it but also want to give this new artist a chance. They did good. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

This might be a huge spoiler answer to your question.
So, the Spore acts as the new home of the old mushroom, as Anzhe having the knowledge/aware of the life. He somehow woke up and the only thing he knew was to protect his spore (he calls it his baby bec it came from him) The mushrooms spore is like their second life, as long as their spore is alive their entire being will transfer to the spore when their old home (the original mushroom) got weak. So yes, the mushrooms life is eternal. Anzhe is not aware that he will transfer to the spore when he dies, he just know that he needed to protect the spore.
So, summary with that.
Old Home - Mushroom (Anzhe)
New Home - Spore - become Anzhe when it got mature
It was explain at the end of the novel. Im sorry if this is confusing. Anw bye

BIG SPOILER AGAIN! NOVEL! DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANNA GET SPOILED
Cont. of the explanation I did here. (:
When Anzhe's mushroom is getting weak, his spore is stuck with Lu Feng when he was away with it (not gonna tell why) He thought he is dreaming when hes feeling/seeing what the spore was doing/feeling with Lu Feng. But then he didn't know that his life was actually beginning to transfer to his new home (the spore).
