Good god I really don’t like Elise she’s too perfect of a character the whole Mary Sue thing she’s got going on is grating on my nerves. Not to mention I despise the way she treats the ML. I’m on chapter 70 rn and idk if it gets better but I don’t even want them together anymore because of how callously she treats him.
Like at first I was completely understanding of why she didn’t want to get close to the prince but as the story goes on she just comes off as a coward? How are you book smart and can strategise like a boss and yet misunderstand someone to this extent? Even her excuses are weak and they seem like ways for her to keep running away from her problems and thus create more misunderstandings between her and the ML who literally hasn’t done anything expect be kind?
I don't think she's strategizing like a boss. She's taking what she remembers from her 1st past life when she read up on the war because Chris died, and is bringing these experiences to make things go the way she wants to be, with problems solved and such.
Because Linden executed her as Elise in the first life, she is terrified that that may happen again, especially when she had pushed the marriage onto him in the first place and weaseled her way into his life but never touched his heart.
This time round he fell for her eventually while she is still scared that if she ends up with Linden he will still end her life. Somewhat airheadedness in this area where she completely throws his actions to care for her out the window is frustrating, I'd admit.
(Though I'll only say that the 50 tea recipes of the Duchess had a better romance plot than Dr Elise....) I kinda like this plot flow in a way.
