It is not exactly about the manhwa being uploaded illegally. It is about how long after it is available that it is uploaded. Many people feel some guilt for reading illegally. Many of them don't have the money to pay, but these people still feel that the author should get some money. So, they feel that the least they can do is wait a day or two so the author makes more money than they would get if it were uploaded the day of.
Yes, the author loses money either way, but they lose less if there is a larger space between uploads. It is kind of like stealing someone's wallet, but, because you feel guilty, not emptying their bank account. The other way around works too, and might be a more accurate representation.
