I think Asta's mom is friends with the devil and asked it to protect Asta when she's about to die. Maybe the devil was the one who put Asta in front of the church that time away from the unknown danger. If that's really the case then the devil went to the 5 leaf grimoire the same time Asta came to the church and give the grimoire to Asta when the time comes or when it feels like Asta is in some kind of trouble. If we think about their first meeting, it seems like the devil is very familiar to Asta since it said that it was the one who's been close to Asta ever since. So the devil is really watching over Asta.
