But can I just say—- I’m positive sure a lot of people KNOW what he did was bad and do condemn him for it and lol.. legit... those who support him, it does NOT mean they support this in real life, I’m pretty sure cuz it’s fiction that they are supporting this chara. Like literally, this would not pass in real life for most people (hopefully, in this current climate, of course acknowledging that being handsome does get you privilege and still some support).
Now.. I think it’s important for people to realize that rehabilitation do exist and can HELP people, of course NOT excusing what they did in the past, by no means, but hoping that they learn from the experience. I think it’s okay to support people who have (hopefully) been rehabilitated and hope the best for them, literally that’s not a crime and we shouldn’t come at people for it! (I’m assuming jihyun has been rehabilitated)
Now even if his supporters forgave or whatever for his action, it doesn’t mean the victim, chiwoo has to. Of course he can if he wants, literally his choice, or whatever the author chooses to do with it. I think it’s important to differentiate that, just cuz his supporters do doesn’t mean they are forcing the victim to, (they can wish but not force it, and if they are forcing then legit shame on them)

I think what this webtoon does a good job of is portraying really complicated characters. Jihyun chara is really complex and was a really terrible guy in the past. His situation with his environment and father DID contribute to a lot in my opinion but of course it does not excuse his actions, literally his choice. I would say his family did not punish him correctly for this, but I feel punishment would not do good because he’s beeen abused by his father a lot, so he literally did not have enough proper love. Kinda wish his brother stepped up but hey not gonna fault him. Tho I kinda do wish he was held accountable for a lot of things but whatevs

Now, it’s not a crime to want a certain ship (even if it’s toxic in real life) becuase I feel the beauty of this is being able to be creative in your own world of fiction, and people can hope for happy endings. It’s the authors choice at the end of the day to do whatever they want (and I’m assuming they didn’t make them end up together in the alternative from what I’m gathering in the comments which is their choice and probably a good choice, esp realistically). Of course I’m acknowledging that in yaoi there tends to be a trope and toxic tendencies which is good to call out on and that needs to change (which I’m slowly starting to see) but there will always be stories that align with these tropes. Also having people choose their own ships is their own choice and they can if they want to. They can try and justify and replies should be welcome in counter debating those points, and they can reply to that. But I guess at the end of the day people are entitled to their opinions and if they know the fine line between fiction and reality, then I think it’s okay. As long as they’re not hurting anyone or pushing their opinions on others, it should be okay. I think the important thing it to distinguish between REALITY and FICTION, cuz if the line is blurred then we have a problem. It’s good to acknowledge the bad things and know it’s bad and should be held accountable, but still like this chara for xyz reasons— it should be okay.

Cuz omg DONT get me started on other /manga/shows with different genre (like horror, action, psychological, thriller) where chara do fuxkrd up shit but people still like and support cuz of whatever reasons but don’t acknowledge the bad shit they do.

NOWWW before y’all come at me, just know that NO I’m not saying this cuz Jihyun is my fave chara or whatever (I do like him tho), I don’t have a fav chara but I really do love kihyun and chiwoo together (I don’t reamember names anymore tbh lol) and I wasn’t really into Jihyun with chiwoo (but no lie tho... I would totally read it and would not mind it—I know, I’m going to hell) and was a huge supporter in Jihyun reflecting and soaking in all that guilt and pain and knowing what he did was wrong, and hope he learned his lesson and was hoping he would find his own lover with a happy ending (or as happy as they can be) but I know I’m not getting that >:( so whatever
