For me, I think its just because many Japanese girls are virgins, and they want their first time with an experienced guy that fall in love with her. Thats not romanticize a virgin but its their fantasy to have a hot guy leads them in bed, i guess?

Instead of telling the reader “Hey, you have to be a virgin to be loved by hot guy,”

it’s more like “I know you are a virgin and you want a hot guy for your first, here you go!”

It’s hard to explain. IMO, It’s not the author who expect the readers to be virgin. It’s the reader, who is a virgin, want author to write a story about their first night with a hot guy.

That’s how they sell it in their country. The virgin reader pays for this type of cliche, that why they write it. I mean, they have researches about what they can sell to their customer in japan. They know who willing to pay for this.

Don’t get me wrong, I prefer an experienced sexy lady dominate boys, it’s not like I worship virgin or anything. I also know in the real-life these hot guys, who take a move on me this fast, is just a typical fuck boy who cannot be trusted; and I think everyone who read smuts know that as well.

So no, if we're talking about reality, it would have made a lot more sense for our FL to not be a virgin and our ML to be one.
On that subject, virginity is a pretty interesting concept in Japan, as virginity and chastity wasn't as valued as in other asian countries. If I remember my classes correctly, the concept and glorification of virginity and shyness as represented in mangas right now came more from European and American influences than actually Japanese influence per se. They were a loooot more frisky before the Meiji period.
So, just to say: that kind of fetishisation comes right from the European world and as you were saying, it's a question to match the interest of the readers. But man, would I pay to read a good smutty manga without any kind of bullshit like that and to see shojo manga diversify themselves... (Like, I'm so thirsty for it, if I stumble against a shojo without rape or sexual coercion, with a respect given to both of them and clear consent, without a weak FL and a "I'm going to show you the world of sexuality" ML... Even if the story is crap, I'll rate it 5 stars. I'm THAT thirsty for representation.)

You’re pretty smart. And you’re right, in 2018-2019 (when this was published/made Japan had the highest number of women and men who were virgins in their 20s to 30s. The fact that 25% of women were were virgins in 2021 still says a lot considering how small Japans population was. It also had not much to do with religion but more so financial stances where lower income women were seen to loose their virginity earlier in life because the only way to get out of poverty was to get married and have kids. Considered the FL owns her own business that ran in the family, it’s understandable why she’s a virgin in her mid 20s. Not to mention her friend always fighting off the guys who hit on her she was just naive bc she was sheltered if we are thinking of this purely through a lens of reality.

Also, understanding how marketing works in Japan is what put your perspective above and beyond. Just bc it was influenced by western culture doesn’t mean it isn’t also, now, Japans culture. Trends spread and they become higher income women demand EVERYWHERE. Bc it became popular likely bc it was relatable (considering this is a smut manga I’d assume the ppl reading this have a hard time putting themselves out there and it’s difficult to actually find a hot guy to have sex with I’d say this was very much so in high demand in 2018-2019.

While I do agree that it is a fetish, understanding the context of the manga and why a butt ton of mangas have this same troupe you can understand why there are so many of them simply bc they gig the most sells from men and women alike and I hate to break it to y’all, but money makes the world spin and if it’s not something you enjoy then it probably was not made for you.

I’m just glad that the perspectives on what ppl find “hot” nowadays has expanded. I love me a good FemDom troupe with some bdsm and I can find a good amount of it in the year of 2025. I think even though this manga was weird and rubbed me the wrong way, the art is chefs kiss and I will continue reading it even if I just have to look at the art and not actually read the dialogue bc of how funky it is.
