...... Then why do you act like 16 y o? No, I'm not dissing on 16 y o. But until you go through college or some kind of outside world experience, you don't really grow as a person, or know how the world works. Yes, you can be mature, but life experiences are the best teachers in the end. These two kids behave like actual kids/ teens, not bothering to communicate with anyone about anything. The abuse they suffered is horrible and most likely they have PTSD and major trust issues, which might explain their unwillingness to open up.
Still, this is isekai, no? That means they have life experience of another world of at least 18 years. They could do so much to protect themselves and learn the truth, yet they barely do the minimum investigation, especially if you compare to other manhwas(like Lady Baby) or even Daughter of the emperor. It's like, them transmigrating has no plot purpose other than falling into isekai category. They seem to have transmigrated from modern Korea, they may not have full knowledge of this world, but they have an edge, they would have learnt a lot more than these ancient royals.
I sincerely hope they undergo character development. I won't excuse the Emperor, he's a moron for that contract scene, but he's not the abuser. In conclusion, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!
This reminds me of Sunset clouds and spring trees( I hope I got the name right) it's translated by Exiled Rebels and has a somewhat similar setting
