I think I has spoilers but I read the novel long ago so I am not sure ....
If I not mistaken in the novel the emperor father had a inferior complex because he was a beta he had a few other princes BUT he finally had one alpha so he planned to make his only alpha son the next emperor then he forces the now now emperor in a engagement with the dominant omega, the emperor meets in private with the empress and says he doesn't want get married and he doesn't want the throne but the empress family kills his brothers make him the only heir and forces him to marry her he ignore her in the beginning then the night he was raped and he started to actually act like the emperor more like self defense and then he became a ass completely
so the manhwa failed to present his character as it was in the novel and made it seem like he already had intentions to become the emperor with plans to collude with the now empress but chickened out when it was happening...?
