maybe its cause I have a bias towards the sons but man,, idgaf if the dads' backstories are more interesting, that's exactly what I'm pissed about. I get that the main story had more of a comedic theme compared to the side story's dramatic theme but it just makes me feel like the main couple isn't being taken seriously. and the fact that they don't give us a follow-up on the sons but expand more on the dads' backstories just makes the main couple kinda neglected ngl.

nah man im just wondering how the younger brother got all these special features such as inventory and grew to be larger than the older one even without any prior strength training?? is it due to him awakening after turning 20? wow if hunters get so much more upgrades awakening after 20 then shouldn't they have found a way for others to awaken like that, because hunters that awaken before 20 are practically useless now, aren't they?
everyone who turned away from this manhwa because of the impression of this being under the 'harem' genre are missing out lol,, jst read the story, it's actl more than that and much more interesting than just a regular harem story. I mean, the harem aspect seems to be secondary anyway. i can't wait for more!!
(additional rant: those type of ppl who jst skip out on the story because "oh it seems to be a harem so i wont read it" are not much different than those who say "i wont read it if it isnt bl". both are kind of annoying... i get it if youve read it, but alot of yall are jst gg off of assumptions atp, pls stop commenting this because idgaf if u choose not to read this due to it falling under the 'harem' genre, there's many other non harem stories out there for you to invest in.)
OMFG! Someone who gets it! Just because it's a "harem" doesn't mean it will or won't have a good story. I've seen enough harems have a nice plot and a good story that you can actually ignore the 'harem' aspect entirely just for the good read. There's even some labeled harem/reverse harem but never actually dive into the romance as it always stayed pretty much fluff because they focused more on the plot.
I get your point. I really do. And I also think theres some good harem comics out there.
I don't know your gender, or if it happens to you but I'm a woman and even if I try my best to focus on the story most of the harem ends up kinda disappointing me.
It's not the romance or poligamy or why so many women interested in mc... it's just... those women... the way they are made and portrayed... makes me feel bad. Liking or not I end up associating with them for being same gender... and it feels unpleasant because they are unpleasant in the eyes of women because they are made to please the male readers (mostly)
It's kinda similar to why some women preferably bl than smut. In most of those smuts the mcs act all naive and innocent and are seggsualy harassed and assaulted until their nos turn into yeses. And to most woman that actually feels disgusting. But if you see a guy go through the same thing you don't feel as bad because you don't associate as much.
It's the same reason most guys don't like reverse harems and bls. Because when they read they associate with the male characters and those are acting and going through things that feel displeasing to them.
I know it got long... just trying to explain why some people hate harem so much...
thanks for explaining your pov to me. yes I am a woman, so I can understand what you mean. i too have biases against certain genres so i cant really argue with that, especially with your points being so valid. but as for me im jst disappointed when readers turn down stories based on that fact solely. sometimes its not even that focused on the harem but they present it as if it is, and also advertising it like its bad jst because of that. so while i agree with you, my point still kinda stands.
Yeah I get it... I still read most of it because usually the plot is interesting enough to take the focus away from the harem part.
I think you see them as having little focus on harem because the harem on jp and ch comics is a little different than thr kr ones... the former ones usually have more focus on the "romance" and "physical" relationship between them, with either mc choosing one woman between the many that "want" him or just... bedding them all and going polygamous. The kr webcomics are a bit different. They prefer the "they are interested but I'm not" kind of harem. Aka collectors harem. Mc might end up with one woman by the end or none, but that doesn't stop the flock of women that surround him. Some of them are in love with him, some just admire his strength, some want friendship, some are "dependent" on him, some are literally pets and objects. And they all have 2 things in common: they have no romantic interest (no boyfriend/fiance), and if they have it's against their will and mc help them break up, and their interactions with mc can be quite ambiguous, not enough to make them romantic interests but enough so some readers would think they'd like that one to be the end game.
To put it on another way... Japanese and Chinese mc's are more... "alpha male" while Korean ones "sigma male".... if it makes any sense...
The one thing they have in common is that mc more often than not will be dragged into trouble because of the women and get "distracted" from their main objective.
There's also the chance that when mc is a regressor his "beloved" will be someone from their past and they will lose half his coolness (and IQ) around them and do stupid sheet.
All in all I think the word harem in this case is not really the traditional meaning of harem but more of referring to bad romance... kinda like on rofan when the ML is the "formely abusive" partner, in the comments readers are like: Wait, the trash husband is the ml?; You're telling me mc will forgive the abusive guy after all this?; They will whitewash the jerk with having been brainwashed and have him as endgame again?
And use those as reason for dropping. Even if the plot is actually good and mc have their reasons... sometimes the romance part is so icky that people don't want to be invested in the comic just for it to have an anticlimactic badly written romance and ending...
But yes, it takes nothing from your point. It takes me a lot to actually drop a comic. Usually really dumb characters or topics that ate taboos I don't like.
My fear in this one is how they butchered the sword empress personality compared with the "cool beauty" she was supposed to be... she really gives me the icks... and I'm afraid the others he'll be in charge of will turn out to be weirdos too and kinda obsessed with him like her. Like, if I was told mc actually used a brainwashing skill on her
Sorry, i misclicked u.u
... a brainwashing skill on her I'd actually believe it wihow she acts. And being spoiled that the others will all be female too doesn't help...
