Ok after years I've come back and I think I FINALLY get and can articulate why it might make sense he only decided to leave because of the baby - so he loved herapi and seems to have missed him (we see him looking all depressed in the blanket and you know it's been a while because herapi doesn't have the marks on his face iirc), but he can't replace the biking gang in his life because he can't live for him. You can't live for a partner in the same way you live for a gang because it's just practically not the same, like being alone with herapi he'd still be alone most of the time because herapi would have his own stuff going on and there's not much tying you together except what you said you feel about each other. Which is nice but obviously can change. But a baby is different, you can easily base your entire identity around a child and taking care of them, it can be what gives your life a purpose (not just meaning like a partner could) in the sense it gives you something to actually do. Also the way a child works means you're just never alone 99% of the time and we're shown how he hates being alone. So yeah I think Herapi alone as much as he loved him couldn't replace the function of the biking gang in his life but the baby could enable him to be with herapi in that way. But it's not super clear tbh
