LoL, Euiyoung literally is the only brain in the family(⌒▽⌒)
The side stories feel like a reward honestly(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
Yeah, why not? Become love rivals with your ex Byul, lol.
The whole plot of this manhwa is like the average experience you get with character.ai scenarios... even the dialogues.
The guy that Sun kills in volume 8 (alongside with Sulya, also known as the ice witch) is the same man in the beginning of the story that had Neneto and Sun as slaves. Yup, the weirdo that had dogs and you know the rest.
Let's celebrate our byul's first "BADUM", cause we know this won't be the last!(▰˘◡˘▰)
Let me just drown illiyan's father real quick, then I'll come to read the rest (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸
I have a somewhat theory... Tengoku don't get weirded out when things like this happen, (I mean the times that a student or even this woman suggests him bizzare things, like offering sex or a relationship) because he knows that people won't grow up getting educated about this part of their identity. They don't know what to do with it, how to express it and engage in it. So they may initially act kinda bizzare and weird but, tengoku knows this from exprience and recognise it in other people and he provides a non judgemental space for them to let it out and finally work it out. I think this is why he doesn't react harshly, shocked or offended. (but, of course he draws the line here and won't engage and give in to their requests! This is very important to know. He is not a groomer and definitely not a pushover.)
P.S: by the way I'm queer myself and i don't intend to generalise this to all queer people or even real life. I am just typing down my observations of this fictional piece and I'm not saying queer people are weird or anything. I think the story is trying to convey that when queerness starts with feared questions and anxiety, (rather than an open and accepted posiibility in a society) you may try to immediately find an answer to it by rather unsafe and dangerous ways. And this is because they feel anxious, or unseen and unsure about it. They want to quickly work it out like an equation. ( initially )
Tengoku has a radar for detecting closeted queer people( ̄∇ ̄")
The diehard fans of this manhwa truly don't realise that people have problem with the bad pacing, and bad character development. I mean we are at chapter 72 and this shit just goes round and round.
The reason why people hate a red flag character like jaekyung and not some other red flag characters is because it does not line up with the genre. This is a drama series, with no angst tags or dark romance trope. It is not a good fit to the story, it is actually hindering it.
As a bisexual who is also a switch, this turns me the fuck onヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
It was hilarious to see Euiyoung opening his cute baby wallet to expose serious money like that(▰˘◡˘▰) My boy is collecting money better than Taeju's men out there... business business~
So, i want to write down my take on the 'pedo thing'. In so many Japanese BL stories heavy themes are used as something light and redeemable in the most casual way; this is an ongoing and unfortunately a popular trend.
That being said, i think this particular story is using the ' pedophile nurse ' as a bait for the MC. It is used as a narrative device, a tool, a reason that draws Aoki toward the nurse. The first few chapters are very confusing and this is why many have misunderstood it.
Here are the reasons that i think will cross out the possibility of any sexual interactions between Tengoku and the students.
1) Tengoku is definitely a problematic character. He is manipulative and has many non-consensual interactions with Aoki (the mc) So, I don't think the author will shy away from explicitly showing and stating that Tengoku had indeed done sexual acts to a minor.
2) Kasai said he didn't. ( to make one point clear, the flashback panel in the beginning of the third volume from when kasai is talking to tengoku after his graduation, looks like tengoku is jerking off kasai, and the sfx is 'squeeze', but this scene is exactly the same scene that Kasai is confessing to Tengoku in the 1st chapter of the 1st volume and the 'squeeze' sfx is actually refering to Kasai holding onto and squeezing Tengoku's coat. Tengoku is not jerking him off. This is a misunderstanding guys.)
3) His former student (math teacher) said nothing of the sort. If tengoku really had done anything sexual towards the former student/ the math teacher he would have actually become hopeful to have a relationship ( even only physical ) with tengoku after he graduated. But he had given up on any hope of them becoming an item. He was even shocked after he saw another man shouting ' I love you ' to tengoku ( eventhough the whole situation was a misunderstanding ) if tengoku had done anything to him, he would have known that he was into guys, no reason to be surprised and even hopeful enough to chase after him after finding out he is into guys.
3) Tengoku himself stated that " he didn't want to be a public offender or lose his job by doing something like that " This seems a reasonable reason why a character like Tengoku won't actually do such a thing. Tengoku himself was a victim of SA and had sex as a minor with adults for a few times ( and he had initiated them ) so even if he doesn't see the problem in the idea of sex ( of any kind, to any degree ) between a minor and an adult, he obviously don't want to become a criminal, a sex offender and a pedophile. ( what i mean is, even if this character's moral code is ambiguous, he is logical and smart enough to not persue such things simply because they won't have a good impact on him.)
4) Aoki doesn't like troublesome things, but the SA allegations were something he wouldn't ever turn a blind eye to if it was actually true. His moral code is transparent. He is not righteous all the time, but he does care for the kids. So if the assault was true, he wouldn't just brush it off and ignore it. That would be very out of character for him.
5) So why so many sentences in the first few chapters are actually suggesting it? We heared Kasai say tengoku touched him, Tengoku saying Kasai opened his legs for him, and the rumor around the school saying that "one will lose their virginity if they go to infirmary". I Think these are only the narrative devices to get the nonchalant Aoki sensi to keep track of and approach Tengoku sensi and that's it. Aoki says that he does not want to face and talk with Tengoku clearly in the first chapters, cause he doesn't like him, and he avoids him most of the time. Yes the first time he went to talk with Tengoku, it was about Kasai's well being. But that would be the end of their interaction if Aoki wasn't suspicious of him and wasn't keeping tabs on him. So the only reason that the theme is implied in the story is to get Aoki to know tengoku.
6) the story has used another misunderstanding as a narrative device in order to push the plot forward; this time it was when Tengoku was supposedly confessed to by his older brother ( and the formor student witnessed it ) but this was not the truth. I honestly thought there was something problematic ( in a romantic sense) between the brothers at first, but that wasn't the case. This was only a tool to drive the story to a point where the brother shows up, the formor student shows up and things happen between the two main characters that results in them dating eachother. That's it. So i believe the thing with Tengoku being a pedophile and assaulting students is the same as this one. (not the most tasteful way to feul the story, I can argue on that, but well.)
Tengoku is a very manipulative person, the rumor might be partially orchestrated by him in order to keep many students away as much as it is possible. I mean the infirmary is vacant most of the time, lol. And he probably said what he said about Kasai only to mess with Aoki, or maybe to say that Kasi had suggested to have sex with him ( i think a little of both). Kasai saying that he was touched by Tengoku sensi is probably just a misinterpretation also. I Don't think he meant it sexually, cause many things that he said was interperated badly by Aoki sensi, lol.
His so called "lessons" are probably just an exclusive sexual education. He probably talked about queerness and gave advice on sexual matters to the closeted gay students who had visited him. (not demonstrating it though) he might have hypothetically teached them about the sex between men and maybe how to masterbate or such. He also support the kids and provided a bit of a safe space for them to act freely without any supervision. It might have been overstepping, but i don't think he cares about cautious approaches. He wasn't a pedophile predator though it's easy to interprete it that way.
