Instead of Ido not taking accountability or responsibility I prefer looking at it as him laying the groundwork for Sejin to actually stand on his own. Without him or his family. He wants Sejin to choose something for himself moving forward and not because of some political engagement, business deals, and some other outside factor. Now, Sejin is just Sejin, not a son from a rich family, not a fiancé to a powerful man in the business world, but an independent person that can do whatever he wishes.
Ido tried to keep him at arms length and just be there as support but some of those times he failed miserably. Deep inside he wanted to be closer even if he knows he shouldn't. He's cutting ties now so that Sejin won't be burden by the responsibility of being tied to him. Of course, he's unaware of Sejin's feelings for him. And even if he is, he can't accept because he knows too well he doesn't deserve it. In his mind, it's better for him to suffer alone than rain on Sejin's parade when he's already starting to walk on his own.
