I get that y’all are saying it’s just context and not justification, but that’s exactly my point — it’s context used to justify. If it wasn’t, they could’ve just given him a normal background. But instead, they drop the trauma right before the character is about to get more “humanized,” and now watch how Dan starts seeing Jaekyung differently despite everything he’s done to him. That’s what I meant by “it’ll make everyone forget.” It’s a common tactic to soften the blow and get the audience to feel bad for the guy, even if no one outright says “he’s forgiven.”

Yeah I agree with this too. Inside the manga's micro world, this was the only way forward for jaekyung to remain the ml.

But externally for the creators, dropping the abuse bomb to whitewash jaekyung's previous abuses is problematic & also par of the course for yaoi mangas
