I'm amazed by this manhwa.
It began with so much fluff and now it's so sad and realistic it hurts my heart.
I wish their love story was a happy one but from the very beginning I didn't see how they would have had a good relationship with all these circumstances (age gap, hiding the relationship, ...)
I know the ending is going to make me cry ╥﹏╥

This manhwa is fascinating! The story, the drawings everything is so unique I'm glad I found it!
I just have a problem with the whole situation between Red and Luce... It makes me really uncomfortable! I wish the story was more focused on the war or had a love story with an healthy relationship ._.

I think there will be a love story between Red and Luce later on, right now it's still in the beginning of their relationsip which is very toxic and is based on blackmail and intimidation.
It's not a cliche happy go lucky yuri story or a an overly dramatic, sappy yuri. It's a darker, more intense yuri which is a fresh breath of air.
Yaoi and shoujo/josei aren't the only ones with complex characters and relations, yuri has that too. On A Leash proves that.

This is why I am not sure how I feel about, because on one hand I'm happy I finally discovered a yuri with intense plot and very interesting characters but on the other hand I hate their relationship. I am used to read about rape, abuse and other dark story but this on really bothers me for some reasons I couldn't name.
"I think there will be a love story between Red and Luce later on, right now it's still in the beginning of their relationsip which is very toxic and is based on blackmail and intimidation" This is exactly my problem haha I don't want them to have an healthy relationship later on... I don't think I can ever come to accept Luce's behaviour.
But yeah overall I'm glad this isn't a "cliche happy go lucky yuri story or a an overly dramatic, sappy yuri" as you said ^^

Since you're used to " rape, abuse and other dark stories" I guess mostly in yaoi, you're bothered by it being in a yuri because you're not used to it. Yuri has much less rape in it, it's mostly consensual sex. From the 100 yuris I've read only On A Leash and another manga had rapey vibes to it. Which is a good thing for me personally, I'm not a fan of rape, not even in fiction.
It's also the fetishizing aspect to it, most straight girls that like anime/manga read yaoi and some shoujo, but less or no yuri. I'm an exception, I'm straight and I like reading yuri. Fujoshis are so used to rape in yaoi that they're desensitized to it, and some even get turned on by it.
But when they see it in yuri they're horrified, which is a double standard.
There's also the fact that On A leash is more realistic and serious than not only most yuris but also yaois. I've found quite a lot of yaoi mangas where rape is taken lightly or even in a joking manner, so when it's so realistic and serious as On A Leash you can't help but be unnerved. It's treated in such a manner that isn't fetishized and used for fap material like in most hentai and yaoi.
Unlike most yaois, where the uke is too weak to fight back or only objects once and then goes along with it, Red fight back A LOT, and has even won the second time.
Also, I gotta say there are a lot of very good yuri manga/webtoons out there that aren't "cliche happy go lucky yuri story or a an overly dramatic, sappy yuri". I even made a list of them: http://www.mangago.zone/home/mangalist/172830/
For some reason you strike me as some one that sees most yuri only as average and yaoi as better. That "the cliche happy go lucky yuri story or a an overly dramatic, sappy yuri" is the usual, which isn't. Especially nowadays, when we get better and better yuri.
Likewise, not all yaoi mangas are very good, most of them are average or alright along with many weak ones, but there are a lot of good ones as well if you look for them.

Meh, I read it but dropped it because it tries to make readers empathize with a rapist and murderer and his at first unwilling but later willing accomplice.
On A Leash has a sadistic character, but she didn't actually murder/rape anyone yet at least. But she did try to rape Red... At least it isn't as twisted and irredeemable as Killing Stalking.
WHAT IS IT WITH THOSE JEJU ISLAND TRIPS ENDING BADLY AAAAAH
My heart...! It hurts ╥﹏╥
Can't they just be happy already??
