Idk about you guys but the new art style has really grown on me. The artist has definitely gotten more comfortable in the later chapters and it's so unique. It fits the story so well. I do miss the old art but I am very VERY content with this one.
Anyways this is all to say that if you've gotten even just one down vote on a comment criticizing the art style I guarantee that it's me. I will be defending this artist till my grave. You guys just gotta be grateful we are still getting updates because I have seen far too many amazing comics get completely dropped once the artist leaves (for health or contract reasons or whatever). Plus, plenty of comics have it way worse—at least this artist has put their best effort in replicating the original.
And also as a person who once tried to make a comic, it is fucking hard to draw scenes as dynamic as this artist. They're doing a great job and I'm tired of seeing everyone say otherwise. Idgaf if I'm the only person here who has this opinion, I will die on this hill (︶︿︶)＝凸

I think it was just to give us hits about her background and mother. There is a lot of information you can get from the single panel she appears in. They just needed some way to introduce the subject. We also don't know how widely used that lullaby is.

I was thinking all along that he found some way to pin everything he experienced on her and started to hate her (bc how can you treat somebody you don't hate that way) but maybe he never hated her and he's just fucked in the head ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Or maybe it's a mix of both? Maybe his type of evil can only come from both being fucked in the head and delusional. Either way, he could just a product of his circumstances.
