I think what I appreciate about her is that she follows through on her convictions. She wants a love marriage, she wants to keep her child, she doesn't want to be abused by her family again and even if she's a little scared about all that she actually did follow through. It might be an idealistic world view in that time to go against the family but I like a character that backs the thought process with their actions.
