If you're stuck in situation where you come across trash people all of a sudden will you blame your mother or the trash's mother for that. No, they they ended up together at the final but due to some events, they first have a child after Paulina broke with the doctor who was planning to kill her and due to the sadness, Paulina and Lucius (to go along with it, like pal) get drunk and have sex that basically only Paulina remembers riding him while Lucius cry because he only half remembers the shape of her boobs. Paulina becomes pregnant, hides the pregnacy and only when she though was discovered, she tells Lucius about the kid who had already born. Lucius confess his love and Paulina rejects him because she believes he only wants her because she is woman that accompany him until the end of the conquest not Paulina herself ("If I was a men that day...Did you still fell in love with me?" in short) but promise to return to the castle, Lucius accept it.

But Lucius decide that he is going to show her he loves her for who she is, not just because she is just another women; If he is going to be rejected, at least by the feeligns he really feels. So, the wooing starts and Paulina let her self develop feelings and then Lucius does one of the best proposal to Paulina to not only love her but make a future where people like her have thing more easier. Paulina at the same time is respected but all the knights :D

Funny fact: In the painting of the their wedding, the painter change the face of Paulina to maker her more 'appeling' but Lucius was mad because it look like he married another women xd

After reading that fake spoiler I was super depressed and wanted to drop this cause I really like the ship XD

I mean is slow burn with political drama and complex people and Paulina 'u like me? no, u confuse' Winter, it's just how the author write it because it's more about Paulina's life and Lucius who happens to fell in love with her. But the title and the cover can make you think is just typical romance korean romance novel that for the middle or very begginer MC and ML are already together lol. At least, more 100 chapters for the manwha to the final at the bare minium and Paulina fells in love nearly at the two final arcs askjdfushdks.

As my personal opinion, It is worth reading for character like Paulina as MC who you can see her as her own because she is interesting. Not ony her personality is fun but (and in the novel is more present) how she thinks about the world as soldier, as woman or someone who does not know what to do as a foreign who only one person trusts until she becames trusted between his peers. Also I like it because it gave me the message that people who are jerks with you can learn to respect you sincerely but only If you show you're whort of respect as doing good your job; you can meet allies in unusual ways (the wives) or a rocking starts can develop in a beautiful friendship (Donau). Is fun but frustating but It makes you want more because how will you know how Pualina ends?!ヽ(`Д´)ﾉ

Well I do like Pauliana and how she changes the norms of females in the story. Personally, I would’ve enjoyed this story more if only there wasn’t a Romance tag so I don’t have to expect anything. But, maybe I could still watch along as the story progresses dunno~ (〜￣△￣)〜

I half agree, the romance tag confuse because Lucius is the only one (+ Donau and Aino) who was 'UWU's' and blushes until very late to the novel Paulina starts too after all the political and war problems. It reminds me a bit like danmei xd

Remember the awful cooking of Paulina who neither dogs could eat? It was call 'Dog food' in the war and for some reason she crave it a lot in her pregnacy, so she name him like this.

For...reasons, she will still call him like that after being born but his name will be Gerald (I suspect postpartum depression due to all the stress Paulina was in, she was very...cold to her son but eventually she becomes better. But, ugh, was sad to read how she feel about him).

Calling it shitty because it's slow burn is a stretch but we are entitled of our own opinion and my opinion towards this comment is that you're too impatient. I would have said something else but I don't want to come off as rude

Just like you said It’s my opinion, and imagining that development happening to me is what I meant by “shitty” cause I would never let something like that occur (getting preggy to someone who already has wives due to alcohol, giving birth secretly and telling the man only when the baby is born, the man suddenly confessing that he loves you when he had all the time in the past to do it but chose not to because he was a coward, and giving him a chance because you “saw” sincerity in his actions and then fall in love with him. Anyways, I know this is fiction and all but still for me its somehow sh*tty that’s all.

lmao you're treating the king like he's a 'normal' person when in reality and settings like this, having a bastard isn't even rare. And the king always wanted to tell her but she always makes it known that she likes serving him as a knight, which means she likes him as her superior. It's actually quite noble that he actually doesn't push his feelings towards her and let her live the life that she wanted without the constraints of knowing the king has feelings for her. That's not cowardice, that's respecting the person decisions and not being intrusive in somebody else's life because you want to put your feelings first. He actually knows that there's a power dynamic between him and her. It pretty much showed his past monologues and hers. She's going to take the feelings of the king in account because she's pregnant, being pregnant at that time and that was made out of wedlock would be a hard on her, like did you not even consider the environmental factors in the setting that they are in? Even if she grew up as a knight, she obviously has common sense, and now that she's pregnant with the king's child who would obviously prioritize her, is she just gonna throw that away? They obviously went past the stage of intimacy so it's not hard for her to give the king a chance especially it's good for the future of the baby. I still can't see how justified this 'shitty' thing in your perception, whether you like it or not, even if they're fiction, the author obviously thought out the complexicity of their characters and weighed the societal construct in the generation that they are in. It makes them a well-rounded characters because these 'shitty' aspects that you're trying to justify actually humanizes them. Slow burn novel, manga and manhwa prioritize treadful progression for the character and relationship and is heavily influenced by the environmental aspect. In my opinion, I still don't see the how everything you said is justified to call it shitty. So I heavily disagree with you.

It's his feelings and even this is fiction he's portrayed as a human being. He has concubines because he has his duties as a king and at the end of the day he still has feelings especially feelings that was unresolve and unrequited, you can't just expect him to throw it away especially when the one he's pinning is an actual good and galant person. If you don't care that this is slow burn then what are you doing here? You're just torturing yourself into reading something that you're into and you're spreading your negativity just because you can't grasp the fact that they're not together yet. You don't even see that him not saying anything especially he's the king and not saying anything towards his knight with his feelings is a mature thing to do especially with his kind of responsibility.
