Getting constant spoilers in tiktok made me retreat from fishing this from the ‘to read’ aisle. And finally getting over it and binge reading this for the night— My eyes are about to burst. Mental preparation doesn’t do much. We’re all crying from the beginning.
Jiang is unredeemable. Piece of trash. No character development, and is simply another character that needs the world to be on fire to realize what’s important. (All these cheating spouse mangas adding fuel with their poop of an excuse ed smh). Don’t be Jiang y’all.
Zhishu refusing to see him actually made sense to me. He loved Jiang of the past and the story begins as he’s deciding to see their present situation. All the romance scenes were of the past and it gives me a tiny joy that he fell in love with Dr Ai who deserves the f**ng world, and Zhishu the universe.
And the skip of Zhishu’s death in the main story I think was also fitting as those chapters were focusing more on Jiang. We see his determination and perseverance to attain the bone marrow and ‘save Zhishu’ that blinds him from what’s happening in the present, again, and easily gives up from seeing Zhishu as he was accustomed to being given infinite chances that when he finally learns Zhishus death, its very sudden, maybe unexpected to him. Hence our sense of confusion (wut? Just like that? Where the drama, the yiruma background..) kinda reflects how he felt hearing Dr Ai.
This was tragedy but would be even more so had he stayed with that selfish b**turd till his last moments. I knew the ending but I’m amazed at the leading scenes to it. It was painful but serene. With an aftertaste of ‘putting yourself on one’s shoes’.
If you haven’t yet, read it. You’re a masochist admit it..
Seeing Maxi progressive bit by bit in art makes me so proud. And some ml could really learn from Riftan.
