I don't think he was ever trying to save or protect Deku. As a kid Bakugou kept hearing from everyone how incredible and superior he was, so he believed that (and became a bully). It was only after entering Yuei that he got a bit more humble. Is he incredible powerful? Yes. Is he ridiculously talented and smart? Yes. But his personality is still fucking horrible.

I think people who can say that easily, even if it is at the heat of the moment, are really some sort of trash. Humans emotions are way more complicated than what others can see as "outsiders". Usually I'd say these are just words, so nothing big, but it is kind of heartless.

Yeah that's true. Now that I think about it, Misuzu also didn't let Carol pay completely for the stuff they bought for Tomo when they dressed Tomo up all girly. She still paid for half. So yeah I guess you're right, Misuzu is still pretty honest.
