He's not dependent on luke idk if u guys are js reading this with your eyes closed but its literally part of Luke's character to be possessive and have trust issues due to his past and trauma. They haven't even been together for a long time so ofc they haven't worked through there issues yet. This is a story if you can't handle the story part then go away.

honestly i hate that old geezer wanting to marry miss Pendleton, however he is doing exactly what the ML did. Sure he had to stop visiting the mc because he had to go back to his estate, but he did visit her when she told him no.
The difference is though, the ML just visited and immediately turned away. Mr Price on the other hand kept sending gifts that he knew could not be turned down AND basically stalked and humiliated her. If he just did the thing the ML did, it wouldn’t be as bad.
One more thing to add is that Mr Price pursue the FL so publicly that it put her into an uncomfortable situation and the more she rejects him the more reputation she loss. hopefully, the ML won't be doing the same thing in the future.
