Came to read the end after watching the anime and all I can say is that this is such a profound and beautiful view on the balance of nature, and humanity’s relationship with the natural world. mushishi is one of the most well written stories I’ve ever come across, allowing us to naturally expand our knowledge of the world and ginko as we read/ watch every short story, each presented similarly to folk tales. It’s really beautiful and deeply emotional despite the rather straightforward nature of the MC. Plus the anime represented the serene yet frightening and mystical world portrayed in the manga absolutely perfectly. This is just hands down an incredible piece of art, the likes of which are rare.
Is it just me or is Akira a huge green flag ???? I wish the uke was more likeable bc it feels like he didn’t deserve 2 such well meaning guys who put his feelings first ╮(￣▽￣)╭

The age gap felt pretty weird to me, especially since this isn’t a story that is pure smut lol. Like I feel like that was full on grooming with how the dude took advantage of the naive love the little boy had for him to soothe his suicidal tendencies.. and created a weird codependent relationship that neither could rly get out of. Like yeah you were addicted but damn that was a full child
