My thoughts would be that Ido wanted to stay away but he can’t cause Sejin’s family would still ruin Sejin regardless if Ido is present or not. I’m guessing that Ido’s plan is to get rid of Sejin’s family and ensure Sejin’s safety and that he can stand on his own before he distance himself as he is aware that he was one of the reasons why Sejin took his own life.
