I haven't encountered an antihero that charmed me this way since reading the unfinished light novel (and watching the anime) of the late Takahiro Yamato, Kaze no Stigma.
Highly recommended - the anime fr 2007 is one of my faves and is in Crunchyroll (and Hulu, I think), and the ending diverted a little fr LN but it did somewhat closed the story satisfactorily even if open-ended.

Chapters 1-4 and 5.5 main story is heartwarming romance of people affected by their loved ones. Deserves a higher rating really.
There was an anime back in 2006 (I think that was the year) and it's really a nice slice of life.
They remade it and currently showing at Crunchyroll. This remake is supposed to be closer to the manga. First episode looks good.
Coming from one of the countries occupied by Japan during this war, hearing stories from my grandparents and other elders about the Japanese atrocities to our people, I just can't buy into this.
Although the story, is good, I just have to say that .
So valid. I mean common japanese people also probably suffered and aren't to blame BUT you're so valid for this.
