From this chapter, I'm beginning to grasp kizaki's motive of approaching Tamura.
Kizaki is clearly treated as the outcast at his school- feared as the frowny-faced, intimidating delinquent he is. This fear and infamous reputation makes people averse to approaching him, and he's left alone. In consideration of his kind and considerate nature, I think he's simply misunderstood and judged.
He wants to have friends too, people he can hang out with, whom he can be himself around. He is after all, just a young teenage boy, and craves the quintessential high school experiences, which are fantasized about so much, just as much as Tamura, or any other student.
Noticing Tamura, another outcast of their peers albeit on the opposite end of the spectrum, he must have felt some sense of kinship, some comfort.
That this is a person he can safely befriend, someone sailing in the same storm, someone he can potentially make and call his own too.
And somehow, it all worked out. In the strangest of ways, they're a great match for each other. Kizaki is a wonderful boy, his kindness leaking in buckets across the seams of his formidable, frightening persona.
Tamura isn't some angel who doesn't judge him, because we've seen him follow the same line of thinking as others at the beginning of every chapter.
BUT Tamura IS different from others. He sees Kizaki's kindness for what it is, enjoys this comfortable dynamic they have going on, and isn't afraid to defend Kizaki when required- Kizaki is, after all, a a precious existence, and the man has, amusingly enough, no idea.
Breaking out of this shell of shun imposed by others, is much easier for Tamura than Kizaki, as this chapter shows. Kizaki's communication game is clearly lacking, WHICH IS why Tamura noticing his roundabout kindness is a big deal.
Kizaki here, felt a little insecure, seeing Tamura get along with others. It's a hard pill to swallow- the thought that maybe Tamura isn't the same, he fits in better, and that Kizaki will be alone again. That approaching and being with Tamura will be impossible once others befriend Tamura. Maybe this is why he "threatens" Tamura to spend time with him- he's afraid a simple heartfelt request or message might be denied, so he tries leaving no option for Tamura.
I loved that hesitance of his in approaching Tamura, seeing his vulnerability, his selflessness in not disturbing Tamura's moment of joy, and letting him being in a happy place even if Kizaki can't- its pretty beautiful, in a way that bittersweet things are.
Of course, Kizaki is just a kid too, and the possessiveness of keeping Tamura to himself overwhelms his restrain; even if its for just a while longer, he'd like to have Tamura to himself for as long as he's allowed.
But what he should realise, is that even after having a great social interaction, Tamura never forgot him. He came back to Kizaki, confiding in him about his newfound joy. Kizaki never had to worry, because Tamura isn't abandoning him. He's here to stay.
The potential of a soft romance blossoming between is infinte, and just as promising. (=・ω・=)
