I think it says it has been a year since his dad's business failed. So, MC was already in music major when his family situation was alright back then. I guess MC didn't want to switch majors... prob cause he does like music and it is also prob the only thing he can control (even if his degree won't give him bank).
I don't think the brother is gonna be the second lead. The obsession in the past life can be more of an overprotective brother thing in the present. And otherwise, they're showing that the brother was ultimately a good king, and in the first season we saw that he was a good brother. Idk, i can't see it going sideways, i have faith in this author.
