The redemption should come first, then the backstory. I don’t need to understand why he is the way he is yet. How am I supposed to feel as much sympathy for him as the author probably wants me to feel if I’m still pissed at him for being an abuser.
It would have so much more impact AFTER he does something redeeming.
But at the end of the day that’s what the author chose to do, I hope it works out better than what I’m expecting bc I love the art sooo much

A proper redemption arc can be done without a whole sob story first. Like that’s all important but it’s the stuff you add later when we actually give a shit about him and his beginnings.
But of course the author knows people are going to read it all anyway…
This is just my opinion but yeah at the very least I hope his redemption happens along side his past being revealed but if they do the whole past THEN redemption I feel it cheapens the efforts. Like you’re automatically going to feel more forgiving to him bc of his backstory but he doesn’t deserve it!! He hasn’t earned it!
Hey so why do brother qiu and he cheng’s eyes look like that in those few panels??? Especially brother qiu’s when he’s sitting with that woman. Tbh it looks similar to ai generated stuff but maybe I’m just paranoid
dw sometimes rendered stuff looks like that from afar I don't think it's ai
It does look strange, I hope it's nothing
I thought it might be something like that, I hope you’re right
dude it deadass looks like ai what the fuck
After really looking at the most recent panels all the eyes look wonky lol idkkkkkkkkkkk
It could be because of the image enhancer the uploader is using. Typically, those use AI, so whenever the image is being read, the app could enhance it, but there will be times that some details — especially small ones — will look wonky or out of place. This is based on my experience and I firmly believe that Old Xian would not use AI for their works
I think this is the most likely explanation, I agree I don’t think Old Xian would use ai
