Well it was exaggerated a bit, but there are men and women who break up with the other because how they looked in the past. It is shallow but there are. And he had a huge complex of how he looked and did not get over it, also he didn't have even a minimal self confidence in his looks, and always degraded himself more and more.
Well maybe because I am like him in several aspects, I liked the story. It was like waching an even more pathetic self of me overreacting over every little thing just like my past self. Not this extreme conclusions like moving away tought. ╮(￣▽￣)╭ that craked me up. XD
