Yes. That's always the thing I hate the most. When they try to have their cake and eat it too, by making it so that every "evil" person will inevitably get the short end of the stick, but everyone except for one person could justifiable held accountable.
I actually likey this story when it came out, then I let it marinate, but this is already something that was visible back then and I really hate this. Go all the way, make them assholes, or just accept that they are victims too and don't try to paint them as villains. I'd be fine if they were simply dumb enough to let themselves be fooled or some shit, because then they would have reasons to regret. But like this, it's going to be very anticlimactic.
That was it? All that build up just for the "boss fight" to be done in less than 10 panels
