Yes. That's always the thing I hate the most. When they try to have their cake and eat it too, by making it so that every "evil" person will inevitably get the short end of the stick, but everyone except for one person could justifiable held accountable.
I actually likey this story when it came out, then I let it marinate, but this is already something that was visible back then and I really hate this. Go all the way, make them assholes, or just accept that they are victims too and don't try to paint them as villains. I'd be fine if they were simply dumb enough to let themselves be fooled or some shit, because then they would have reasons to regret. But like this, it's going to be very anticlimactic.

He really is adorable. It’s stuff like this that made him become my favorite character. He acts rough and tough like he doesn’t care but he really does. Even when he was upset he couldn’t get rid of the stuff entirely and just hid it away.
